MONITANIANS

Overview ...

Monitanians have long remained shrouded in mystery where their origins are concerned. The largest known community of this large, bi-pedal race of powerful fighting lizards lies in the Dismal Swamp, a vast expanse of morass separating the continent of Aradath’s central and southern regions. Little else is truly known of their history, whether due to their communications barriers with the other races of the land, or that they simply wish not to reveal their story. The Monitanians are regarded as one of the bravest races of the known world. The few indications in historical scrolls about the race support this statement.

Appearance...

These creatures are large, scaled and very lizard-like. They walk upright, using their tail for additional support. Some have speculated that the Monitanians are distant relatives of the Drag-als, however, representatives from both sides fully deny this.

  • Eyes: Black

  • Hair: none

  • Average Height: Males range from - 5’0” - 7’0” Females range from 5’7” - 7’7

  • TEMPERAMENT:

  • Monitanians are extremely brave, built for combat and are willing to prove it. They value honor and allegiance over all else. Making friends with a Monitanian is no small feat, but once a friendship is made, is it for life. These friendships are typically formed on the battlefield. Their sense of humor or lack thereof, is also a good way to get on a Monitanian's bad side in a hurry. They have no great love for those who kill others for no outright reason. They can barely tolerate being in the same area as a Drag-al, Go-blin-al, or Flerian for a long period of time, viewing them as obnoxious and uncouth.
  • Tendencies :

  • They have a love for the water, which may be related to their need to keep their skin moist to avoid it drying out. Due to the construction of their vocal instruments, they are unable to speak the common tongue. They however, will communicate their intentions to those who cannot speak their tongue through a series of gestures, hisses, and grunts. (It should be noted that using the action or other role-play commands to "speak" to others is highly frowned upon by other players.) Monitanians tend to take on the roles of mercenaries whenever the call arises, always the first in line where the cause is just. Though they thick, scaly skin offers some level of protection, they will almost always adorn themselves with the heaviest armors available.
  • TRAITS

  • Advantages: These reptiles possess great strength and are stout of build. Most of the other races believe them to be only semi-intelligent due to their lack of the ability to speak common, they are in fact highly intelligent.
