ELDERS AND GUIDES

ELDERS ...

  • Elders (also known as Game Masters or GMs) are the caretakers and Loremasters, well versed in the ways of all the environments of the system. They are the police, salespersons, teachers, writers, construction and repair workers, entertainers and storytellers of our system. As such, they have an enormous amount of responsibility. First and foremost, the Elders are here for the users of the system.

  • Getting Help ...

Guides are experienced players who help Elders assist other players. Having knowledge of most of the game concepts and commands, they are here to help you to become familiar with the basic workings and commands of Dragon's Gate. They can be of special help to new players.

However, it is important to note that Elders and Guides are not a substitute for reading this manual. You'll have a much easier, and more enjoyable, time if you first spend some time here and then later, if you run into problems, go to the Guides and Elders.

Elders and Guides are NOT around to teach new players how to play the game -- this manual, and Academy in the Training Grounds provide that service. Players can also get useful information on many of the commands through use of the HELP command. Simply typing HELP will bring up a list of categories of commands. Entering HELP will show a list of all commands in that category, and you may then enter HELP to get information on a specific command.

    The Assist Command ...

If you ever notice something going wrong with the game operation, or if you come across a situation that cannot be otherwise dealt with in the context of role-playing, then please contact a Guide or Elder with the ASSIST command. Any available Guide or Elder online will try to respond quickly, but there are times when one may not be immediately available. You need not assist more than once. Your request remains in the system until you exit the game. In the event you solve your problem before someone responds, use ASSIST CANCEL to remove your assistance request. In some cases, an Elder may wish you to explain what your question or problem is before he gets there. To respond to such a request, the 'REPORT ' command will send the Elder whatever text you type in the . (See Section XI below for more sources of information and how to contact the Dragon's Gate staff and management.)

Finally, remember that this is an interactive game! You can often find answers by asking a fellow adventurer.
